Man charged after incident exposure incident at Dearborn Target

Steven Simmons, a 31-year-old resident of Detroit, faced arraignment on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, before Honorable Judge Mark Somers of the 19th District Court. The charges against him include Child Sexually Abusive Material, Using a Computer to Commit a Crime, Aggravated Indecent Exposure, and Indecent Exposure, as announced by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Dearborn Police Department apprehended Simmons on Sunday, Feb. 11, following a report of indecent exposure in the parking lot of a Target store located at 15901 Ford Rd. A female witness alerted the police after observing a male in a white Jeep Wrangler engaging in lewd acts around 5 p.m.

Upon investigation, detectives discovered video footage on Simmons’ phone showing him following unidentified females through the aisles of the Dearborn Target store while performing lewd acts. Several videos dating back to Dec. 3, 2023, appear to show Simmons recording himself ejaculating on the coats of unidentified female victims.

Simmons was issued a $100,000 cash bond with a GPS tether upon release. A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for Feb. 27 at 9 a.m.

The Dearborn Police Department urges anyone who may have witnessed the incident or believes they may be a victim of Simmons’ actions to contact them at 313-943-2241.

Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin stated, “These incidents are disturbing and traumatic. Thanks to the quick actions of an alert community member, our officers were able to quickly apprehend this individual on-scene.”
