Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights will be closing in July and demolished.
In 2022, the company announced it would undergo transformation from a mall to a town center.
Lakeside will have over 2,800 multi-family apartments which include 750 for senior housing, nearly 150,000 square feet of retail and dining (in addition to the existing 400,000), 60,000 square feet of office space, and a 120-room hotel.
The developer plans to donate approximately 30 acres to the public realm to be utilized for a park system, streetscape, and infrastructure.
The heart and center of the new Lakeside will be filled with shops, offices, hotels, coffee houses, and restaurants.
The flexible space will be lined with restaurants that spill out activating the edges with outdoor seating for music, art, and events.
Surrounding the town center will be a one-and-a-half-mile long encircling parkway. It will connect the Lakeside Town Center development to the Iron Belle Trail, Freedom Trail, and Dodge Park Trail. This network of pathways converging in Sterling Heights connects Belle Isle, Lake St. Clair, and Iron Wood to this transformative development.
Lakeside Mall is one of the largest malls in the state of Michigan with more than 1.5 million square feet. The Mall is located at 14000 Lakeside Circle at the intersection of Hall Road and Schoenherr Road.
