Detroit police chief talks safety for NFL draft

As 300,000 people are expected to attend the draft, safety is many people’s priority.

We caught up with Detroit police chief James White to see what safety measures are being implemented.

Detroit police will work with multiple law enforcement agencies, including Wayne County, Oakland, Macomb Sheriff’s, FBI, ATF, Michigan State Police, and more.

Chief James White said that the NFL has declared the event a weapon-free zone and that they will be deploying undercover cops, K-9, and Air unit, and monitor the area with their crime intelligence unit.

There will be metal detectors at multiple entrances and a clear bag policy. Police will be patrolling parking structures and lots but are still asking people not to leave any valuable items in their cars.
