Ypsilanti middle school coach fired after video captures him choking 14-year-old

A Ypsilanti Middle School Coach was fired and could face charges after video captures him assaulting a 14-year-old boy.

The incident happened last week at the middle school after the teen and coach had an argument.

A police report has been filed with the police, but no charges have been issued yet.

The family has now hired an attorney to help hold the school responsible. They accuse other staff members of not acting quickly enough to help the teen son.

“As soon as we were made aware of the incident, we took swift and decisive action. We immediately contacted social services authorities and began cooperating with local law enforcement. Such actions are absolutely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our district. Effective immediately, the employee is no longer working at the school district and is not permitted to enter school property or attend school activities. We understand the concern this incident may cause within our community,” the school district said in a letter to students.
