Woman sentenced to 3 months in jail after she kept driving when her friend fell from car & died

A woman who was charged in connection to the death of her friend has been sentenced on Friday.

Kentia Monique Fearn, a 24-year-old resident of Wayne, was charged in the death of 23-year-old Mia Kanu.

Fearn pleaded no contest in October to Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death and Operating While Intoxicated.

According to court records, she was sentenced today to three months in jail and three years of probation.

The incident occurred on Providence Drive in Southfield on June 3, 2023. Authorities discovered the victim’s body in the roadway. It is alleged that Fearn was driving the car and that the victim fell from the moving vehicle.

Instead of stopping to help the victim, she left her. A person passing by saw her body and called 911. She later died after being taken to a hospital. (News & information release only)
