Woman killed after Dodge Charger fleeing Warren police for drag racing crashes into her

An innocent 42-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a driver of a Dodge Charger that was drag racing.

At around 1:35 am, two Warren Police Officers were on patrol in the area of 8 Mile and Ryan when they saw a group of three Dodge Chargers traveling at a high rate of speed on westbound 8 Mile.

Officers activated their lights and attempted to stop the three vehicles for drag racing. A vehicle pursuit then ensued with all three Dodges failing to stop for officers.

Two of the Dodges traveled westbound on 8 Mile to northbound on Ryan. At 10 Mile and Ryan in Madison Heights, two of the Dodges turned left and traveled westbound with officers in pursuit, police say.

On 10 Mile west of Dequindre, a Dodge driven by a 26-year-old male struck a Jeep Cherokee, which was occupied by a driver and a female passenger. The 42-year-old female passenger of the Jeep died.

The driver of the Jeep, the driver of the Dodge, and two other passengers inside the Dodge were all transported to an area hospital.

All are listed in stable condition at this time. The 26-year-old driver is in custody at an area hospital.

Investigators are working to identify the driver of the second Dodge Charger from the pursuit, police said. The third Dodge Charger involved in this incident returned to the scene.
