A woman who once went viral for making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich during a Zoom court hearing is now facing serious felony charges after authorities say she caused a crash that left someone with life-altering injuries.
31-year-old Asja Outerbridge was charged with multiple offenses including reckless driving causing serious impairment, assaulting a police officer, and driving with a suspended license.
Court records show the crash happened over the weekend when Outerbridge allegedly ran a red light while speeding down Schaefer near Outer Drive in Detroit.
Investigators say she was driving over 60 mph in a 30 mph zone and never hit the brakes before crashing into a Honda.
The impact pushed the car into a utility pole, seriously injuring a backseat passenger, who suffered a traumatic brain injury and a broken pelvis.
Authorities say Outerbridge had a suspended license at the time. During her hospital transport, she reportedly resisted officers and bit one of them.
A judge set her bond at $100,000 personal and ordered that she not drive under any circumstances.
Outerbridge previously gained online attention after making a sandwich during a virtual court appearance related to a separate charge of having an open alcohol in a vehicle. She showed up late to the hearing and prepared the PB&J sandwich while on camera, prompting the judge to remove her from the courtroom. That video can be found in previous article.
