Woman dies in crash on I-75 after being dragged nearly 1000 feet by gravel truck

A woman is dead after a crash involving a gravel hauler on northbound I-75 near 8 Mile early Thursday morning.

According to Michigan State Police, the crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. when the driver of a Jeep Compass lost control, spinning into the path of a northbound gravel hauler.

The semi struck the Jeep on the driver’s side and pushed it approximately 750 feet before coming to a stop.

The female driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the gravel hauler was not injured.

Northbound I-75 remains closed as the investigation continues.
