Woman Dies After Incident in Parking Lot of Rochester Elementary School

Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a woman was found dead in the parking lot of McGregor Elementary School in Rochester.

Deputies responded to the school parking lot in the area of Livernois and Walton Blvd. Wednesday around 3:00 p.m.

Police confirmed a woman was found dead. Authorities say no students or staff were hurt during the incident.

MDN’s aerial footage showed a vehicle surrounded by police and firefighters, along with what appeared to be dry ice nearby.

Investigators have not released details on how she died but police say indicators suggest it may have been a suicide. The case remains under investigation.

The school district has released the following statement at 7:00 p.m.:

“Earlier today, local police investigated a situation unrelated to the school community that was confined to a parking space at McGregor Elementary School. The area has been cleared. All students and staff are safe. Classes will continue at McGregor Elementary on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025. It appears rumors were circulating about a chemical leak. Local law enforcement has confirmed that the rumors are false, and that at no time was any member of our school community at risk of being harmed.”
