A crash on eastbound I-94 near I-75 in Detroit has left one woman dead and two children injured Sunday night.
Emergency crews responded to I-94 at Chene following reports of a crash.
On-scene investigation revealed that the 27-year-old male (Detroit) driver of a Nissan Sentra was in the left lane suddenly lost control, and struck the right side concrete wall. The vehicle then crossed all travel lanes and hit the left concrete wall.
The 28-year-old female from Detroit, front seat unbelted passenger, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Two children in the vehicle (ages one and two) were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
The driver stated that the passenger had been drinking and grabbed the steering wheel during an argument, causing him to lose control.
This investigation pending further investigation, medical examiner reports, and vehicle inspection, the police said.
This is the second fatal crash on a freeway in less than 12 hours.
