Warming centers across Metro Detroit open as Arctic blast hits

Frigid weather with wind chills as low as -15° to -25° is expected today and tomorrow across Metro Detroit.

Officials urge anyone needing warmth to visit designated shelters and warming centers., which can be found across Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties.

Overnight Centers
• Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries: 13130 Woodward Avenue @detroitrescuemission_official
• Pope Francis Center @popefranciscenter : 2915 W Hancock. Their gym is open as an emergency shelter-in-place through Wednesday. They are offering 50 cots and three meals a day.

  • Detroit Recreation Centers and Public Library branches are also open. Full list on city website.
