Two car thieves were caught on video prowling through driveways— one of them clutching a gun.
The incident happened near 7 Mile and Lahser in Detroit over the weekend.
In the video, one suspect can be seen holding a gun and pointing it toward a home, while the other suspect searched through a parked car to steal items before leaving the scene.
Detroit police released a statement saying, “We are not immediately aware of any other incidents similar to what was captured in this video. However, we will continue to investigate these types of incidents with diligence in order to identify the involved individuals.”
They added, “Additionally we encourage residents to be observant and aware of their surroundings when exiting or entering their home, along with looking out for their neighbors when they are entering or exiting their homes.”
The incident is another reminder of how dangerous these situations can be. Earlier this month, in Redford Township, a man was shot by two suspected car thieves after he confronted them during an attempted break-in.
