Video captures Warren police officer saving child from drowning at pool hotel

A Warren police officer is being hailed as a hero after saving a 12-year-old boy who nearly drowned at a hotel pool Saturday evening.

Officer Brooklier and other first responders worked together to rescue the child at the TownPlace Suites Hotel. Thanks to their quick actions, the boy has since been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

According to police news release, the emergency unfolded around 6:55 p.m. when dispatch received a frantic 911 call about a child who was unresponsive and not breathing in the hotel pool. Officer Brooklier, who was already at the hotel on an unrelated call, immediately rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, he found a chaotic situation with bystanders attempting CPR. Officer Brooklier quickly took control, placing the child in a rescue position and performing chest compressions for two minutes. Just as Warren Fire Department crews arrived, the child regained consciousness. (Video above edited to a shorter version)

The Warren Fire Department transported the child to a local hospital in critical condition, with additional officers blocking intersections to ensure a fast response. The child was later stabilized and has since been released, authorities say.
