A group of thieves were caught on camera attempting to break into a jewelry store on Saturday.
The video captures the suspects using hammers to try to break the glass that the jewelry was inside.
The loud sounds caused people to run because they thought there was an active shooter incident.
“There have been reports of an active shooter at Great Lakes Crossing. This is NOT TRUE and there is no threat to the public. There is a police presence for a larceny incident, and nothing else at this time,” Auburn Hills police said in a social media post.
