A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after being hit by a DDOT bus Thursday afternoon on the city’s west side.
The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. on Warren Avenue near Junction. Officials say the pedestrian was partially in a travel lane near a parked car when they were struck by a bus.
The victim was taken by ambulance to the Hospital with critical injuries.
“As is standard protocol when an accident occurs, the DDOT driver was taken off the road immediately to be screened for drugs or alcohol. Those results are pending and the driver will remain off the road for the time being”, DDOT said.
Detroit Police are handling the investigation, and DDOT says they are also conducting a full internal review.
“The thoughts of everyone at DDOT are with this individual in hopes they are able to make a full recovery”, DDOT said.
