Uber is rolling out a new program that will let women riders choose female drivers or share rides with other women.
The feature is expected to launch in the coming weeks only in Detroit, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
A new option called “women drivers” will appear in the Uber app for female users. If a woman driver isn’t nearby, riders can choose to wait, book ahead, or switch to a regular ride with the next available driver.
Women drivers can also opt to pick up only female passengers.
