Prosecutors have formally charged two men in connection with the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Latricia Green at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced that 53-year-old Mario are Green, of Detroit, has been charged with:
• First-Degree Premeditated Murder
• Discharge of a Firearm in a Building Causing Death
• Aggravated Stalking
• Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person
• Four counts of Felony Firearm
Investigators say on August 22, 2025, around 9:45 a.m., Green entered the hospital on West Grand Boulevard with a handgun. Despite being banned from the premises for prior stalking and harassment of his ex-wife, he went to her office in the hospital’s basement, shot her at close range, and fled in a vehicle.
The hospital went into lockdown while police and security responded. Latricia Green, who worked at the hospital, was later pronounced dead from her injuries.
Mario Green was arrested the next day following a multi-agency manhunt that included Detroit Police, ATF, FBI, Michigan State Police, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, and hospital security police. He was arraigned this evening in 36th District Court.
Second Man Charged
A second man, 54-year-old Anthony Lee-Lamont Barnett, of Detroit, has also been charged. Prosecutors say Barnett helped Mario Green flee the scene after the shooting. He was a friend.
Barnett faces charges of:
• Accessory After the Fact
• Lying to a Police Officer
Barnett was advising his friend to toss his phone away because they were able to ping it, prosecutors said during the arraignment.
Court records show Mario Green previously served time for aggravated stalking and arson. In July, a Wayne County judge approved a personal protection order against him, though it was never officially served.
