The Detroit Zoo has announced twin red pandas have been born.
On June 17, Ravi, a 7-year-old male red panda, and Ginger, a 3-year-old first-time mom, welcomed twin cubs.
“So far, Ginger has been a very attentive and caring mother, and her cubs appear to be healthy, hydrated and vigorous. The first few months are critical for red panda cubs, as they remain fragile and heavily dependent on their mother. However, we are cautiously optimistic that these cubs will thrive,” the Zoo said.
For the next two to three months, Ginger will be caring for the cubs in a nest box that provides a secluded, quiet space for her to tend to her cubs, according to the Zoo. 📸: Detroit Zoo
