Sterling Heights police are investigating a theft at a local collectible store where roughly $50,000 worth of rare Pokémon cards were stolen during a break-in.
The incident happened shortly after midnight on July 30 at First Edition Finds, a recently opened shop owned by Jonathan Gappy.
Surveillance video shows a suspect breaking through the store’s front window and smashing multiple display cases inside. The thief made off with dozens of valuable trading cards.
According to Gappy, the stolen items included several first-edition Pokémon cards and rare vintage collectibles, some dating back more than two decades and kept in pristine condition.
A $15,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest or the recovery of the stolen cards.
