The Detroit Grand Prix returns today in downtown Detroit

The 2025 Detroit Grand Prix roars back to downtown this weekend along the riverfront just east of Huntington Place. Racing runs through Sunday, June 1.

Friday’s Free Prix Day kicks things off with free admission to grandstands 1 and 9, plus free, wheelchair-accessible viewing platforms along Jefferson. Hart Plaza, Spirit Plaza and a stretch of Woodward Avenue near Campus Martius will host free fan-activation areas all three days .

Ticketed grandstand seating is required for the remainder of the weekend. Prices vary by location and can be purchased in advance at detroitgp.com .

Several downtown streets will close for the race:

• Jefferson Avenue between Griswold and Rivard will reopen after Sunday’s final race.

• Woodward Avenue from State/Gratiot near Campus Martius down to Jefferson remains closed through Monday, June 2.

• The left lane of southbound I-375 is shut between Lafayette and Jefferson.

• From 10 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday, the blocks around Campus Martius allow pedestrian access only, and southbound I-375 drivers must exit at Lafayette unless headed to Canada or holding a Grand Prix parking pass.

Most parking garages inside the race footprint are closed except for the Franklin Garage, which requires pre-purchased parking passes. Fans can also park along the People Mover route or north of Campus Martius and ride the free QLine into the heart of the action.

Expect heavy traffic downtown.
