Teen sentenced to 60 years in triple murder on Detroit’s west side

A Detroit teen who was charged in the fatal shooting of a 5-year-old boy, his mother, and his mother’s boyfriend has been sentenced today.

As part of a sentencing agreement, he was sentenced to 28–60 years in prison.

The shooting happened in February of 2022 at a home in the area of Evergreen and Fenkell.

Malcolm Hardy, who was 16 at the time, pleaded guilty to 3 counts of second-degree murder after he fatally shot Aaron Benson and LaShon Marshall after an altercation inside the home. Hardy knew Benson because he worked for him.

He then shot the 5-year-old boy nine times because he was afraid Caleb was ‘going to snitch on him’.
