A teen is dead and another was injured after a homeowner opened fire on a group of individuals who were allegedly trying to break into his garage early Tuesday morning.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. on Mandon Drive in White Lake Township, which is located west of Pontiac. According to police, the homeowner was alerted by his surveillance system and saw seven people entering his detached garage. He went outside and fired several shots were fired at seven individuals.
One of the 17-year-old teens later died from their injuries. The other is being treated and is expected to recover.
Police say all of the them were between the ages of 17 and 18. One adult and one juvenile have been taken into custody, and investigators are still searching for the others involved.
Neighbors say the suspects may be attempting to steal dirt bikes from the garage.
