Teen armed with DRACO shot by Detroit police

A teen is hospitalized after he was shot by police in Detroit.

The incident occurred Friday night in the area of 7 Mile and Forrer, near Southfield.

Detroit police say officers on patrol stopped to investigate a group of juveniles for curfew violations. During the investigation, officials said one of them continued walking away.

Officers noticed he was fidgeting with his pants and believed he was armed. He walked into an alley, turned around with a Draco in his hand, and that’s when officers fired shots, authorities said.

Police struck the 16-year-old in the leg and wrist. He is listed in serious condition but is expected to survive.
