Suspect leads police on chase after shooting at party in Detroit

A 30-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after officials allege he fled from officers after being in the area of a shooting.

Michael Wilson, of Detroit, is charged with two felony counts: assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer and fleeing police in the fourth degree.

The incident occurred over the weekend.

Prosecutors allege Wilson fled from officers who were responding to a shooting, with witnesses reporting that gunfire was coming from the vehicle he was driving.

During the chase, Wilson reportedly hit other vehicles, ran red lights, drove the wrong way, and nearly struck a police car.

After the pursuit, police arrested Wilson, noting that he resisted and that heavy force was used in the process.

A follow-up investigation into the shooting is ongoing, which happened during a party. One person was struck by a bullet, but prosecutors have not filed any charges related to that part of the incident yet.
