Suspect flees scene on foot after crashing & killing innocent driver

Detroit police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left an innocent driver dead Sunday night.

The crash happened around 8:40 p.m. on Van Dyke near E. 7 Mile.

The 32-year-old male driver of the Dodge Charger was stopped at a red light when a Toyota Avalon traveling at a high rate of speed struck him. The suspect driver then fled the scene on foot. The passenger of the car was detained.

The innocent driver was transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead. The crash remains under investigation.
