Student Injured After Shooting on School Bus in Front of High School

Police in Redford Township are investigating after a student was shot on a school bus Wednesday afternoon.

The incident is unfolding at Thurston High School, in the area of Inkster & I-96. It happened after school was dismissed and students were on their way home.

Students on the bus tell MDN they heard a loud bang and the student running off the bus and saying he got shot in the hand.

The student then ran inside the school. The student was transported to a nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries.

At this time, it’s unknown if the shooting was accidental or who the weapon belonged to. A second student was taken into custody by police.
