A student was arrested after showing up with a loaded gun to school.
At approximately 8:00AM, Eastpointe Officers were dispatched to Eastpointe High School.
Further investigation revealed that a sixteen-year-old student brought a loaded gun to the school, police said in a news release. When the student was entering the school, Security Officers, observed a bulge in his waistband.
When asked to be checked with the metal detection wand the student refused to cooperate. When the security guard attempted to retrieve the g.n from the student a struggle ensued, according to the news release.
Fortunately , the security guard was able to disarm the student. After a short lockdown, the school resumed its operations.
It is unknown why the student brought it to the school, police said.
“Eastpointe PD wants to command the school security officer for his vigilance and willingness to act to disarm the suspect. Although we do not know the reason for the student bringing it to the school, there is a high possibility, that the security guard’s actions possibly prevented a tragic situatio,” police said in a statement.
The suspect is currently in custody and will be lodged in Macomb Juvenile Justice Center.
