A Metro Detroit woman says she lost $400 — and a close friend missed the chance to see her favorite artist — after purchasing Chris Brown concert tickets through StubHub that the company now says were “mislabeled.”
Nerissa Anderson @risa_msn_rn says she’s used the ticket resale site without any problems, but this time was different. Anderson explained that she originally purchased tickets for Friday’s show directly from Ticketmaster back in April. When a second night was announced, she bought another set — this time for Thursday — through StubHub so her friend could go with her.
She tried to claim the tickets at 5 a.m. on the day of the concert & found them “unclaimable.”
“Ford Field told me the seats don’t go up that high. They’re imaginary seats, they don’t exist,” she said.
She also contacted StubHub that morning and was told she had already claimed the tickets, something she denies. Anderson says the company initially promised she would still be able to attend. “They told me, ‘We’re going to make sure you get to the show.’” But later that day, she says, they changed their story. “They changed their mind. You won’t have anything.”
The loss was especially hard because she had planned to go with her longtime friend, who is dealing with serious health issues. “It’s somebody who was a diehard fan who couldn’t go see him,” Anderson said. “I would just stick to Ticketmaster and do not trust them for anything.“
While she missed Thursday’s performance, Anderson did get to see Chris Brown on Friday night with the tickets she purchased directly from Ticketmaster. She says it was bittersweet knowing her friend wasn’t there.
StubHub released the following statement after the story was published:
“After reviewing this order, we confirmed it was not a scam or fraudulent transaction. The tickets were valid, but the mislabeled seat numbers and a post-acceptance digital access issue caused confusion. We resolved the issue with a full refund and an additional credit to thank the fan for their patience. We’re always working to improve our customer service process, and StubHub’s FanProtect Guarantee ensures buyers get valid tickets or their money back.”
