Sterling Heights has once again been ranked the safest big city in Michigan, according to newly released 2023 FBI crime statistics.
The report, published through the National Incident-Based Reporting System, shows a significant drop in both violent and property crimes in the city.
Violent crime decreased by 19% and property crime dropped by 4% from 2022 to 2023. Sterling Heights recorded the lowest violent crime rate among Michigan cities with populations over 100,000, with 210 total violent crimes—a rate lower than cities like Dearborn, Ann Arbor, and Warren.
