A Sterling Heights man was hospitalized after crashing his motorcycle while traveling at speeds of 150 MPH.
The crash occurred Wednesday night on I-75 near the Davison Freeway in Detroit.
Police responded to calls about a traffic accident and found a motorcycle on its side. The rider was unresponsive in the center lane. Troopers monitored his condition until Detroit Fire took over, police said.
The 21-year-old man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The investigation revealed he had rear-ended a Honda CRV, which struck the median. The CRV driver was not injured.
On-scene analysis confirmed the motorcycle’s speed exceeded 150 MPH. The freeway, temporarily closed for investigation, has since reopened.
“We continue to see excessive speed leading to preventable traffic crashes,” said F/Lt Mike Shaw. “There is no reason to drive faster than the speed limit, and absolutely no reason to drive over 150 miles per hour. This is another reminder to drive responsibly.”
