A Royal Oak library has temporarily closed its doors following the discovery of an insect infestation within items returned through the library’s book drop system.
The bugs were discovered in a DVD case returned over the weekend. When library staff opened the case, they found multiple species of bugs inside.
To prevent the issue from spreading, the library locked its book drops. All items in the book drop at the time were bagged and isolated in the library’s garage for further inspection.
The library is currently awaiting further information from pest control to determine the exact species of bugs involved and the extent of the infestation.
