A prominent city of Detroit attorney was killed in a vehicle crash overnight involving Detroit police.
The incident happened early Monday morning in the area of I-96 & Livernois.
“Officers from the Second Precinct were responding to a request for backup with lights and sirens and traveling east on the Jeffries Service Drive, in a fully marked Ford Explorer, when they collided in the intersection with a Lexus IS 250, driven by a 58-year old male driver, that was traveling south on W. Chicago,” Detroit police said in a statement.
Medics responded and transported the driver to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The officers were also transported to the hospital and listed in stable condition.
The driver has been identified as Cliff Woodard II.
An investigation is actively being conducted by the Detroit Police Department’s Fatal Squad, authorities said.
