President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that bans transgender women and girls from participating in female sports.
The order, signed Wednesday, directs federal agencies to interpret Title IX—a law prohibiting sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs—as excluding transgender females from competing in women’s and girls’ sports.
The executive order also calls for federal investigations into visa applications by transgender women seeking to compete in U.S. sports events.
