Polling data from Saunteel Jenkins’ campaign shows she’s now in the top two in the race for Detroit mayor.
Jenkins is a Cass Tech graduate and former Detroit City Council President. She served as CEO of The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW), a nonprofit that helps low-income families keep their heat and lights on during tough times.
The survey, conducted by GBAO Strategies, found Jenkins is slightly ahead of candidates Solomon Kinloch and James Craig for the second-place spot behind Mary Sheffield.
After voters learned more about each candidate, Jenkins gained the most support — with many saying her background and message stood out. The poll shows voters responded strongly to her work as a former city council president and nonprofit leader.
