Police Search for Suspect After 2 Cops Shot in Southgate

UPDATE: The main suspect is in custody and the manhunt has been called off, according to sources. Arrested at an apartment inside the same complex where the shooting happened.

2 Southgate officers have been inured after a shooting.

The incident happened Thursday afternoon at an apartment in the area of I-75 and Northline.

Police say they were called to the apartment on someone waving a weapon.

During the confrontation, the suspect fired shots at officers and struck them both in the leg.

The suspect then jumped out the second story window and fled on foot. A massive manhunt is underway.

Police have released a photo of the alleged suspect, 20-year-old Jeremiah Kemp. He is a resident of the city of Wayne.

Both officers are expected to be Okay. Residents are asked to shelter in place.
