Police investigating ‘suspicious’ death of 8-year-old inside home in Wayne

Michigan State Police say they are investigating a suspicious death of an 8-year-old child in the city of Wayne on Saturday.

The death investigation is taking place in the block of Phyllis, near Wayne Road and Michigan Ave.

According to Michigan State Police, their Special Investigation Section was requested to investigate the suspicious death of an eight-year-old child. Police did not say why the death was suspicious.

The original 911 call to the home came out around 5:30 a.m. as the child fell down the stairs with CPR in progress immediately after. On scene, police were seen searching for some type of evidence.

“Currently, detectives are interviewing the parents,” MSP said. “An autopsy is pending.”
