
Michigan State Police crime scene team spent the night gathering evidence from a home on Detroit’s east side believed to be connected to the deaths of three people found in a burning vehicle early Sunday morning.
A family member of one of the potential victims confirmed that two women and a child were inside the vehicle.
Investigators spent Sunday night into Monday searching and collecting evidence at the home.
Detroit police confirm one person of interest was taken into custody.
“The Detroit Police Department has taken one person of interest into custody as part of our investigation into the tragic discovery of three bodies found inside a burned vehicle on the city’s west side. The Homicide Task Force, comprised of the Detroit Police Department and Michigan State Police, is finishing the process of making positive identification and is working with the families of the victims of this case. At this stage, we believe this to be an isolated incident. We are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area of 30th Street and Milford Street the morning of Sunday, April 6, to contact the Detroit Police Department, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or visit DetroitRewards.TV to submit your tip. Reward is $5,000 for tips that move the case forward. Tips can remain anonymous,” Detroit police said in a statement.
There has been no official confirmation regarding the identities of the victims, as the bodies were discovered burned beyond recognition.
