Police Investigate Back-to-Back DDOT Bus Incidents: Man Shot, Bus Driver Stabs Passenger Who Spat on Him

Detroit police are investigating an early morning shooting on a DDOT bus.

The incident occurred on 8 Mile near Mound on the city’s east side.

Police say one person was shot inside the bus and the suspect fled on foot.

The victim a 26-year-old male was shot in his chest but is expected to survive. The circumstances are unknown.

Six people were on the bus but no one else was injured.

This is the second incident involving a DDOT bus in less than 24 hours.

Yesterday, in an unrelated incident, a DDOT bus driver was arrested on 7 Mile and Greenfield for stabbing a passenger who spat on him.

The incident stemmed from an argument over the bus fare. The passenger suffered multiple injuries.

Detroit police say they will be adding more officers to buses to ensure safety and prevent any issues from occurring.
