An Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy has died after being shot while following a stolen car in Detroit.
The incident occurred Saturday night on Park Grove, near Gratiot and McNichols.
According to sources, the officer, who was in plain clothes, was following several people in a stolen car. One of the occupants exited the car and began to fire shots in the direction of the deputy’s unmarked vehicle.
CPR was being performed on the officer while en route to the hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
Several suspects were taken into custody last night.
