A road crew worker with the Road Commission for Oakland County has died following a crash Wednesday in Farmington Hills, MDN has learned.
We are told three workers were servicing a catch basin and cleaning drainage infrastructure along Orchard Lake Road when the crash happened.
A vehicle heading south on Orchard Lake veered out of its lane, went over the median, and hit a road crew working on the northbound side. It’s still unclear what caused the driver to cross over.
Two workers were seriously injured, and one tragically died at the scene. The driver of the civilian worker was also injured.
As a result, Orchard Lake Road remains closed in both directions between 10 Mile and 11 Mile roads as the investigation continues.
