Oakland County Couple Wins $2M Lottery Prize on Anniversary

An Oakland County couple is celebrating a wedding anniversary they will never forget after winning $2 million from the Michigan Lottery’s Diamonds & Gold instant game.

The 44-year-old woman, who chose to stay anonymous, said she and her husband regularly enjoy playing scratch-off tickets. On their anniversary, they scratched off a ticket together — and her husband was the first to spot the $2 million prize.

“He thought something wasn’t right, so we took it to the store to scan it. A message came up to file a claim at the Lottery office, so we asked a friend to scan it on her Lottery app. I started shaking and was in total shock when $2 million came up on the screen. It was so exciting and the best surprise on our anniversary!”

The winning ticket was purchased at Opdyke Featherstone Mobil, located at 810 North Opdyke Road in Auburn Hills. The couple recently visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim their prize, opting for a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $1.3 million.

They plan to use the money to purchase a new home, make investments, and set aside funds for their children’s education.
