Northern Lights May Be Visible to the Naked Eye Tonight Over Metro Detroit

The Northern Lights are expected to be visible in metro Detroit on Sunday night.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a strong geomagnetic storm is happening, which could push the auroras farther south than usual.

The Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a “G4” Geomagnetic Storm. These powerful bursts of energy can cause bright auroras in the night sky.

If skies are clear, head outside and look up between 10:00 PM and 2:00 AM.
