A brand-new sports dome is now open on Detroit’s east side. The 130,000-square-foot Chandler Park Fieldhouse officially opened today with a community celebration.
The facility features a full turf field, multi-sport courts, an indoor track, pickleball, volleyball, basketball, and spaces for community events. Visitors will also find showers, bathrooms, locker rooms, and fitness areas.
Located at Conner and I-94, the fieldhouse adds to the 200-acre Chandler Park, which already includes a golf course, Wayne County’s Family Aquatic Center, and a skate park. The new dome can also accommodate up to 200 cars in its parking lot.
The grand opening, which featured free sports clinics, giveaways, food trucks, and resource tables is happening today till 6PM.
City officials say the state-of-the-art facility fills a recreation gap on the east side and will allow Detroiters to enjoy year-round fitness, sports, and entertainment.
