The Detroit River Walk will soon be connected to through several parks between Belle Isle and Downtown Detroit.
The completion of the 3.5-mile east riverfront will be completed on October 21st, according to the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.
This final section of the East Riverfront will provide a connection between Mt. Elliott Park and Gabriel Richard Park and connect the Riverwalk to the Belle Isle Bridge.
It will also connect to the 27.5-mile Joe Louis Greenway, which connects parks and neighborhoods across the city, allowing residents to travel from McNichols to the riverfront— all without a car-through a combination of new trails, on-street protected bike lanes and links to existing trails like the Dequindre Cut and the RiverWalk.
The greenway includes the cities of Hamtramck, Highland Park, and more.
