New Program Allows Detroit Public Schools Students with 3.0 GPA to Automatically Get Accepted to Wayne State University

Wayne State University and Detroit Public Schools Community District have teamed up to help more Detroit students go to college.

Their new program, Warriors on the Rise, gives automatic admission to Wayne State for DPSCD students who keep at least a 3.0 GPA and finish key English and math classes.

The program is free and offers more than just admission. Students get year-round support like career mentoring, college prep workshops, academic advising, and financial aid help. Families can also get transportation support, free or discounted event tickets, and chances for dual-enrollment classes.

Wayne State leaders say the goal is to remove barriers so students can focus on learning instead of worrying about applications. Invitations for eligible juniors will start February 2026.
