A new Michigan tax credit aims to encourage more people to become organ donors.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed House Bill 4361 into law on Wednesday, offering living organ donors a one-time tax credit of up to $10,000, according to a news release.
Supporters of the legislation highlight it as part of a broader effort to reduce obstacles for potential donors, making it easier to save lives through organ donation.
Eligible individuals can start claiming the credit for the 2025 tax year. You can become a donor by visiting GOLM.org/register
