Barkside, Detroit’s first dog park and bar, will open its second location today.
Barkside offers a safe, social space where dogs and their owners can relax and connect. The Detroit location has welcomed more than 50,000 canine visits since 2023, inspiring the new Southfield spot at Greenfield and 11 Mile.
To celebrate opening week, dogs get in free from Saturday, September 27, through Friday, October 3.
Opening Week Hours
• Monday – Friday: 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Saturday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Sunday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The new park features 5,000 square feet of indoor, climate-controlled play space and 8,000 square feet outdoors. Small-dog areas are available inside and outside. Wi-Fi, TVs, and lounge seating give owners a place to relax while dogs play, rain or shine.
Dogs must be up to date on Rabies, DHLPP/Da2PP, and Bordetella vaccinations, at least six months old, and spayed or neutered if one year or older. Trained “Rufferees” monitor all play areas for safe interactions.
Barkside also hosts events like trivia nights, breed meetups, movie nights, Member Mingles, and dog birthday parties. Sports fans can watch games on big screens.
