Nathan Morris, 35, was shot and killed by a neighbor on Cornell Street in Canton Township after his daughter touched the neighbor’s mulch while on a walk.
Morris had sent his daughter home before being confronted by the neighbor, who then shot him. Morris was found bleeding in the street and later died at a hospital.
The suspect initially barricaded himself in his home but eventually surrendered to police.
Morris, an engineer at Ford Motor Company and recent candidate for the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Board, is survived by his wife, Becky, and their two children, Molly and Zoey.
