The Novi Police Department is investigating four recent residential home invasions that they believe are connected to South American transnational gangs operating in the region, police say.
Timeline of Home Invasions:
1. October 31, 2024 – Between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., suspects broke a rear door window of a home on Revello Court, near Beck and Eight Mile Roads. The residence, backing up to a wooded area, was unoccupied at the time, allowing the suspects to steal valuables before fleeing through the woods.
2. November 2, 2024 – Between 6:00 p.m. and 8:55 p.m., suspects targeted another home on Vento Drive, near Garfield and Eight Mile Roads. Entry was made by breaking a rear door window, and the suspects stole items from the residence. Like the first incident, the house backs up to open terrain, believed to have provided the suspects with cover, police said.
- November 15, 2024 – At 5:46 p.m., suspects broke a second-story bathroom window of a home on Pomino Drive, near Garfield and Eight Mile Roads. The suspects entered and stole valuables while the residents were away. This residence also backs up to a wooded area.
- November 15, 2024 – At 6:58 p.m., a home on Turnberry Boulevard, near Haggerty and Eight Mile Roads, was burglarized. The suspects broke a rear door window, entered, and stole items. Like the other homes, this property is adjacent to a wooded area, believed to have been used as a means of approach.
Novi Police have identified a consistent method in these break-ins, including the use of wooded or open areas for entry, surveillance to ensure homeowners are away, and technology to jam Wi-Fi signals, disabling security systems.
These tactics align with other incidents tied across Oakland County and surrounding areas this year, Novi police said in a news release.
