A mother was killed after trying to stop an altercation between her teenage son and another person in Detroit.
The incident occurred Wednesday night on the block of Runyon, near 7 Mile and Hoover.
The 16-year-old was involved in an altercation with another male when his mother intervened to stop it.
The suspect then pulled out a gun, shooting and killing the 42-year-old mother. He also shot the teen in the chest. The teen was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
The suspect is still on the run, and the investigation is ongoing.
MDN has learned that the mother, who was fatally shot last night, had previously lost her 15-year-old son in a shooting at a Detroit gas station in 2022 during an altercation.
At the time of that earlier shooting, the teen victim in last night’s incident was present and witnessed his brother being killed when he was 14 years old.
